Polynesian Meat Balls in Sweet-and-Sour Sauce

Ingredients for Meat Balls:

1  1/2

lbs.

ground beef

1/4 cup chopped  water chestnuts
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. onion salt
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
3/4 cup uncooked instant oatmeal
1/2 cup milk
3 - 4 drops Tabasco
    butter

Ingredients for Sauce:

1 cup sugar
3/4 cup vinegar
1 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 cup water
2 tsp. cornstarch

Directions:

1.  Mix together Worcestershire sauce, onion salt, garlic salt, Tabasco and stir well. Add water chestnuts, oatmeal and milk and stir to blend.  Add to ground beef and mix well.  Form into balls -- 24 half dollar size balls or 65 +/- quarter size balls.

2.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Rub shallow roasting pan with butter.  Add meat balls and brown for about 20 minutes (large size) or 12 minutes (small size).  Remove meat balls from the pan and drain on paper towels.

3.  To make the sauce, combine sugar, vinegar, paprika and salt in a saucepan.  Bring mixture to a boil and then thicken with water and cornstarch, which have been mixed in a  separate bowl.  Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes or more until sauce begins to thicken.  Pour sauce over the meat balls.
