April 14, 2008:

The Concert Schedule  for Music in the Vineyards 2008 is now ready.

March 1, 2008:

Tour de Tanks  begins today.  Please see the Festivals, etc. page.

March 1, 2008:

Effective today the price of Cabernet Franc  has been lowered to $16.75, and the price of Merlot  has been lowered to $14.75.  The reason for the reduction is that we have a plentiful supply of both wines in the bottle and in the tank.  Initially, we were concerned about not having a continuous inventory.

January 1, 2008:

We hope you enjoyed a blessed Christmas, and we wish you a Happy New Year, complete with your favorite Nissley Wines!

December 14, 2007:

This evening at 5:00 p.m. our Capital City Shop  in Camp Hill will finally re-open after an absence of three months.  The shop is a new kiosk, located half-way between Center Court and Penney's.  Happy Holidays to our west shore fans!

December 7, 2007:

Three Merry Days (and a fourth)  continues tomorrow at all Nissley Wine Shops.  Please see the Gifts & Specials page.

November 5, 2007:

This week we are moving our Park City Shop  to the newly constructed Fountain Shoppes section of the mall.  The shop will be closed one day only - on Wednesday, and it will re-open on Thursday, November 8th in the new location.  The new shop is very stylish, with high ceiling and tile flooring.  The gold-toned walls and red wooden trim create a warm invitation to come in and enjoy sampling of our delicious wines .  The shop also has lots of advantages, including a sidewalk entrance which accommodates the loading of heavy packages into your car and a spacious interior for stocking all Nissley wines, with a fine selection of wine accessories.   Look for us between Bon-Ton and Williams-Sonoma.  The address of the mall is Park City Center, Lancaster, PA 17601.

November 1, 2007:

Holiday wines and gifts  are now available in all Nissley Shops.  Please see the Holiday Gifts page.

September 20, 2007:

Topaz Select 2006 will be available be available at all Nissley wine shops on October 1st.  The quality is excellent, as indicated by the Double Gold award it received recently.  The price will be $13.75, which is a price increase from the $11.75 price of the 2005 vintage that it replaces.  The higher price reflects the increase in quality, which resulted partly from our decision to change the wine blend.  Unfortunately, another consequence of changing the blend was a decrease in the gallons that we were able to produce.  So it becomes necessary to raise the price for these traditional reasons:  excellent quality and limited supply.

September 14, 2007:

Lawn Concerts were fun, as always.  The last concert, held on Labor Day Weekend with D.C. & Company performing,  was a fine way to end the season.  However, this was not the best season in terms of our policy about minors age 13 to 20 being admitted with their parents.  We were attempting to bring our methods in line with PLCB requirements, and we met quite a lot of resistance.  We have concluded that our best approach is not to admit minors to future concerts, even though they are with their own parent.  Please read about Minors and Small Children on the amenities page.  Another change for next summer is in the number of concerts.  The season will consist of eight concerts rather than ten.  Please see the Lawn Concerts page.

August 23, 2007:

Closing of our Shop at Capital City will take place soon.   Our last day of business in the current location be Monday, August 27th.  We apologize for the short notice.  We were expecting to relocate immediately in another part of the mall.  However, the kiosk that we used previously did not satisfy the new fire codes.  Future plans are uncertain.  If you would like to be notified when we re-open at Capital City, please email us at winery@nissleywine.com.

July 12, 2007:

Introducing Two New Wines from the bountiful harvest of 2006.  For our sweet wine drinkers, we have produced two new wines.   Grapeful Red is now our sweetest red wine - with a smooth, creamy flavor and a grapey aroma to match.  While Grapeful White is not as sweet as Grapeful Red, it has plenty of grapey character.   (Grapeful White is similar to Fantasy in sweetness.)  Both new wines are perfect for sipping on hot summer days.  They are available today in the Nissley Wines Shops at the Winery, Park City, and Rockvale Square.  They will be available tomorrow at Colonial Park and Capital City.  As usual, the wines are open for sampling in our shops.   The price of Grapeful Red is $10.75 per 750 mL bottle, and the price of Grapeful White is $9.75.   For quantity discounts, please see the Wine Prices page.

June 7, 2007:

Petite Blanc  is again available after a long absence.  The wine blend is a bit different, and it is slightly sweeter.  In fact it is the same semi-dry blend that we use for  Rhapsody in Blue.  The 375 mL bottle is again green (not blue like Rhapsody in Blue).  The price of Petite Blanc is $6.75.   For quantity discounts, please see the Wine Prices page.

May 29, 2007:

The Concert Flyer  for Music in the Vineyards 2007 is now ready.  Look there for descriptions of the bands and other information about this popular Lawn Concert series.  Season passes will be available in all Nissley Wine Shops on June 1st.

April 13, 2007:

Vignoles  is back.  The wine is available for sampling at all Nissley Wine Shops.  If you are familiar with recent vintages, be sure to taste this Vintage 2006.  The body is a bit lighter and the nose is less intense, still with the pineapple note.  The price is $10.75 per 750mL bottle, and quantity discounts apply.

April 4, 2007:

The Concert Schedule  for Music in the Vineyards 2007 is now ready.

March 23, 2007:

January 8, 2007:

Season Feature is back!    Now our tanks are full with a bountiful harvest from Vintage of 2006.  After a two-year hiatus due to inventory shortages,  we are happy to again offer a Season Feature.   Every two months we feature one of our wines at 20% off.  (An additional discount applies for 120 bottles or more.)  The Season Feature is available for Special Message Labels.  However, the order must be picked up within 15 days following the two-month period.  The current Season Feature wine is denoted by an SF on the Wine Prices list.

December 25, 2006:

Wishing all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

December 20, 2006:

Celebrate the New Year with  Rhapsody at Midnight,  specially labelled and specially discounted.  Please see the New Year's Feature page.

October 1, 2006:

Tours will resume today, after nine months of waiting for the Winery to be rebuilt.   Self-guided tours will be available for individuals and small groups (8 or fewer people) during regular hours.  Conduct your own tour, at your own pace, with the help of a color guide booklet.  There is no charge for the self-guided tour, which is followed by a complimentary wine tasting.  Sorry: we cannot accommodate more than 8 people for self-guided tours or tastings.  Guided Tours, with a Nissley staff guide, are designed for groups of 9 or more persons, by reservation only.   The tour fee is $5.00 per person, and the times are limited to Friday mornings, starting at 10:00 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.  For more information, please contact the Winery office during weekday hours (see Shops & Hours).

September 23, 2006:

New Releases:   This week we added two dry red wines to our wine list.  Merlot is entirely new to the list.  Cabernet Franc was available several years ago and is now back again.    Merlot 2005 is a dry, medium-bodied red wine with a hint of plum.   Serve at room temperature, with venison, veal scaloppini, ratatouille, gorgonzola cheese, dried fruits and walnuts.   Cabernet Franc 2005 is a dry, light-bodied red wine, recommended for those who like Beaujolais.   Serve at room temperature, with grilled or pan-fried pork, roast turkey and Swiss cheese.    The list price of Merlot 2005 is $24.75, and Cabernet Franc 2005 is $20.75.   For quantity discounts, please see the Wine Prices page.  Both wines are available for sampling at all Nissley Wine Shops.

September 18, 2006:

Wine Prices  of several wines will increase on October 1.  To qualify for the old price, an order placed before October 1 must be picked up on or before October 8th (or shipped on/before October 6th).  For the specific wines, please see the Wine Prices page.

September 1, 2006:

Tomorrow's lawn concert  has been postponed to September 9, due to the effects of Hurricane Ernesto.  This will be the last concert of our Music in the Vineyards series.

July 10, 2006:

Deliveries to the PLCB   warehouse in Scranton resumed last week,  after a long delay due to our fire in January.   If your local Wine & Spirits Shoppe has been sold out of Nissley wines, three of the wines will be arriving fairly soon:  Naughty Marietta 2005, Niagara 2005 and Fantasy 2005.  Unfortunately,  Rhapsody in Blue 2005 has not yet been bottled, and it will require a longer wait.

June 1, 2006:

Whisper White 2005   is being bottled this morning.  Right now it's on the shelves at the Winery Shop, and it's in route to our Lancaster Shops.  Tomorrow it will go to the Harrisburg and Camp Hill Shops.  The wait has been long, but we feel this blend (pear wine and French hybrid whites) is worth the wait.  We hope you'll agree.

May 30, 2006:

Bottling resumed today!!   It has been a long four months of reconstruction, but we can now celebrate this first day of bottling for our 2005 Vintage wines.   We plan to bottle one or two wines each week from now thru August, beginning with Apple today.  Unfortunately, some wines will continue to be unavailable for awhile longer, and others will be sold out before we can get the new ones bottled.  It is not possible to post a schedule, because there are too many variables in the production requirements.  Instead, please keep an eye on the Wine Prices page.  When wines become low, they are marked "L" on the chart.  When sold out, they are marked "TSO."  When they become available again, the "TSO" is removed.  In addition, if you contact us by email, we will notify you when your favorite wines are ready.

April 7, 2006:

The Concert Schedule  for Music in the Vineyards is now ready.  This year we are trying something different.  We have purposely not booked bands that might draw an overcapacity audience.  Instead we have scheduled a lot of new bands to bring new styles of music to the series.  We hope you like the line-up.

April 5, 2006:

Reconstruction  of the winery is well underway.  Roof trusses and rafters are rapidly going up, and Spring holds special meaning for us now.

March 4, 2006:

Tour de Tanks  begins today.  Please see the Festivals page.

February 27, 2006:

Some Answers  to questions that we have received about the fire:  Was anyone hurt?  Was very much wine lost?     Fortunately no one was hurt.   Only four people were in the building at the time, and they responded quickly when they sensed the danger.  We lost about one fifth of the 2005 Vintage wines, although not all tanks  have been opened and sampled, so the losses might be greater.   This will be determined as soon as the new roof is in place, and the wines can be handled effectively.   Plans are well underway for the replacement of the roof and restoration to a workable winery.

February 2, 2006:

The Wine Shop at the Winery is again open, as reconstruction of the winery roof continues.  Although tours of the production area have been suspended,  the Wine Shop is open for wine tastings and sales.  The usual hours apply.

January 23, 2006:

Sad News:  Yesterday afternoon we suffered a severe fire at the Winery, which destroyed the roof, the third floor storage area, most of the original tobacco barn and several  wine tanks made of synthetic material.   We have not yet assessed the full impact on the stainless steel tanks and wines inside.  (The bottled inventory was not affected,  because it is stored in a different building.)  Our current plan is to rebuild, and we hope to be back to normal by summertime.  Meanwhile, the production facility will be closed for tours.   Although the Wine Shop is closed today, we plan to reopen that part fairly soon, because it suffered slight damage.   Please see the Home Page for the opened status of the Wine Shop.   Our other Wine Shops will be open as usual for wine tasting and sales.

January 20, 2006:

Valentine Wine Gifts are again available.  Please see Gifts & Specials.
